It couldn’t compete with its competition as the PS1 sold an overwhelming 104.25 million units. ![]() Nintendo 64 sales were 32.93 million players worldwide when it got discontinued. Nintendo launched N64 in 1996 to compete with PlayStation 1 and Sega Saturn. If you are a kid from the ’80s and 90’s it is really hard to believe that you have not played or seen anyone playing Nintendo 64, Sega, and PlayStation (PlayStation 1).
